The rich contours of seat and seatback don't hold you so much as they lightly envelop you, coaxing your body backward even as you're being lifted up. These wonderfully pillowy ridges come courtesy of 10 brass-plated rolled-rim steel grommets, which also help prevent rainwater from puddling in the 2-foot-square swing seat.

The Gateway Mist striped patterned top layer is solution-dyed acrylic Sunbrella® fabric and the bottom layer is a synthetic DuraCord® fabric. These two synthetic fabrics sandwich a plush center of resilient, nonabsorbent fiberfill that's manufactured from recycled plastic drink bottles.

The best known, most established outdoor fabric available, Sunbrella® is not only resistant to staining, but also to rot, mold and mildew, and is amazingly colorfast. Not to mention that it's also soft as cotton to the touch.

The 40-inch overhead spreader bar holds the hanging ropes open wide, heightening the sense of this wonderful swing opening up more and more the higher up you go, and providing a subtle feeling of liftoff whenever you glance upward as you sit and gently sway.

The Cumaru spreader bar is known to naturally age into a beautiful silver grey without sacrificing durability, while the hanging ropes are 3-ply-strong DuraCord®, weather-tough and cottony-soft.

Chains and other hardware are galvanized steel, for heightened rust protection.

Despite the advanced weatherability of a Nags Head Hammocks product, we do always recommend storing it in an enclosed dry place away from harsh chemicals and foraging wildlife during prolonged bad weather and other protracted periods when it's going unused, to ensure its longest possible life.
