What a perfect fabric pattern for an OBX hammock! The bold stripes in alternating coastal blues, yellow and white could have been lifted directly from some nautical flag flapping in the maritime breeze atop the mast of a zippy Catamaran clipping across the Currituck Sound.
Yet this happy ocean lovers' pattern merely hints at what's in store for you once you settle in atop a Nags Head Pillowtop Hammock. So, speaking of flags: You might as well go ahead and raise the white one, cuz you're gonna be surrendering to relaxation in no time!
The bed of our Pillowtop Hammocks is lockstitched horizontally into seven robust connecting pillows, creating an uncommonly cushiony reclining spot, along with a level of back support entirely uncharacteristic of a hammock.
The top fabric layer, with its hearty Hampton Summer Stripe pattern, is our own solution-dyed synthetic DuraCord®; the neutral-colored bottom layer is nonabsorbent Textilene® mesh. These two synthetics sandwich a thick center of plush, resilient polyester hollowfill fiber made from recycled plastic drink bottles.
DuraCord® is not only resistant to rot, mold, mildew and staining, but is also the most fade-resistant outdoor fabric available today, so our robust colors will hold true to their relaxing coastal hues for seasons to come. Our own proprietary synthetic blend, DuraCord® recalls comfy cotton in its softness.
The hammock bed is offset on both ends by thick spreader bars of honey-hued Southern white oak that's been repeatedly hand-dipped in marine-grade spar varnish, for both heightened looks, and heightened weather protection.
O-rings and hanging chains are rust-resistant galvanized steel.
Despite the advanced weatherability of a Nags Head Hammock, we do always recommend storing it in an enclosed dry place away from foraging wildlife and harsh chemicals during prolonged bad weather and other protracted periods when it's going unused, to ensure its longest possible life.
